The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe
Friday, June 20, 8PM

Acme Theater Productions, Maynard’s own award-winning, community theater, is excited to announce the comedic look at popular culture - The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe starring the one-woman tour de force Danielle Sacks. All proceeds from this one-night only show will go to the Maynard Food Pantry.

The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, was originally written for Tony Award winning actress Lily Tomlin. This brilliant and intelligent comedy comments on popular culture by portraying more than a dozen different characters, including a performance artist, a homeless woman, a vibrator salesman, a pair of prostitutes, and more. The play's greatest strengths lie in its humanity. The characters on display here are real people; if they're funny it's because they've been written and performed straight. With such wonderful lines as "If olive oil comes from olives and peanut oil from peanuts, where does baby oil come from?" & "did you know we were the first planet in the universe known to have a Miss Universe Pageant" this play is sure to make you laugh and think.

Acme Theater is very fortunate to have the amazing talent of Ms. Sacks returning to it’s stage with this outstanding show. Danielle has been a vibrant energy in the theater community in Massachusetts for the last 10 years and has starred in and directed shows all over Massachusetts. In 2003 she was named Best Young Actor in Massachusetts for her portrayal of Margaret in Acme’s award winning production of To Forgive, Divine. Acme’s Artistic Director, Dave Sheppard, said “Danielle is one of the most amazing natural talents it has ever been my pleasure to work with”.

The Maynard Food Pantry was established in 1992 with the purpose to provide food assistance to any individual or family in need with greatest degree of confidentiality.

This wonderful night of theater is being presented at Acme Theater, 61 Summer Street in Maynard. The show is being presented in June 20 at are 8:00PM. Seating is very limited and will go fast, so reservations are strongly recommended. To reserve tickets call 978-823-0003.

All proceeds from this show will go to the Maynard Food Pantry.
